Elevate, A Unique Monument

We are honored to be involved in the design, construction, and installation of this one-of-a-kind slab monument. A 1” thick aluminum plate with the lettering and bird recessed. And black. We make all sorts of monuments, but most retail shopping center monuments are Aluminum and have tenant panels. Most residential monuments are unlit and just announce the community’s name. Multifamily housing (Apartments, Condos and townhouses) are often hybrid monuments. This is unique. What is it? Well let’s explore this.

CNC Routing

TAWD monument sign Elevate on CNC 2

What is it made from?

It starts with a 1” thick Aluminum plate. This is very ridged and heavy, close to 300 pounds. We shape it with a CNC router. Then the letters and image are touted into the plate, at about an 1/8”. It also has a welded in base for aid in install and a structure inside the concrete.

Finishing it is paint. We use a Matthews Paint System designed for signs. It is a PPG paint, but unlike automotive paint it is designed with a larger particle size and a matte finish. It is made to resist fad, have a very tough surface and require no attention for years. Unlike automotive finishes, there is no clearcoat, so not clearcoat peal.
