Illuminated Blade Signs

Signs for San Diego does a lot of work for other sign companies. Well over 85% of our work is for others. These are never promoted these signs here, because we did them on a wholesale basis. They belong to the customer (another sign shop). We never really deal with the end user and we hold the customer and sign as proprietary information.  In this case the customer sold the company, and we worked directly for the developer (very unusual). So there is nobody to protect here.

Series of Beautiful Blade Signs

Here are a series of beautiful blade signs. They are at Fox Point Farms. Sold through Fast signs. These were designed before we received the order/s. So, there are a couple of themes here

  • Signs for San Diego is the manufacturing arm of many sign companies. Most are never mentioned here.
  • We manufacture designs that we are given, and some of these are just beautiful.

These blade signs are made to last; they will be in use for many years. We use Aluminum to make the sign cabinet and support arm.

Light Weight

Blade signs should be light, with wide mounting pads. The blade sign depends on the wall. Many walls are clade with siding, exterior plywood and other materials over wood and aluminum. If you are lucky enough to find a stud in the right place the mounting will be better, but there is still a rotational force on the stud and or cladding. You can see this in a sag or a tilt. We solve part of this with wider mounting plats that spread the weight over a wider area.

Attracting Foot Traffic

Blade Signs are Designed for Attracting Foot Traffic. This is idea for shopping malls, near walking streets, night entertainment areas with a pedestrian area and inside. Inside golf course shopping bar and restaurant areas, Breweries, and wineries.

Blade Signs take less space. In dense and complex areas where wall space is limited, a blade sign can solve a lot of problems. The wall space is dramatically reducing, and the sign area is not.

Blade Signs can be an ideal solution for offices and locations with multiple rooms off hallways.

LEDs changed Everything

Illuminated Blade Signs are more practical with LEDs. LEDs are modern, light weight, can be used in small areas. The signs made before LEDs because popular require larger cabinets, deeper with more lighting issues. They were heavier and just harder to do. The result is the enhanced ability to do signs like these

Push Through: A Manufacturing Technique

Push Through. This is a manufacturing technique where a thicker acrylic is used. We cut away most of the Acrylic leaving the letter or shape that “pokes though” a precisely cut “hole” to make the “push through”. This allows light to exit from the sides and “Halo” light the shape. The light can also come out the front or face.  The part not seen is a thin layer of Acrylic that prevents the acrylic letter or shape from passing through the “hole”, We call this a “shelf cut” or a “Top Hat”.  It is traffic to do detailed, small and complex designs that are impossible with other methods.

These are electrical signs, with LEDs internally.  When your business needs to stand out on a crowded street, blade sign may be your solution. A Blade sign can set your business apart.
