Adam Ave Theater Bulb and Socket Sign
What happens when a truck hits a sign? In this case Adam Ave Theater had exactly this problem. We got the call and went out to see. The structure underneath was damaged, and the sign was crushed. This was a marquee sign, and the center did not match the two sides. So, in fixing the damage Adam Ave theater wanted to switch out the sign type. We reproduced all the center signs to match the two sides. It involved building new boxes, and the unique socket and bulb spacing, and then matching the paint. We also knocked out a large number of dents. In the end the damage to the structure could not be straightened enough, se we replaced this section with new metal.
This type of sign was common in the 1920s, but rare today. The sockets are still available, but the light bulbs are not. Incandescent bulbs are not available, so we switched to an LED light bulb. These are (marginally) available. With these sockets and bulbs, we CNC route (Cut) a plate that fits above the box to run the 110V lines. These needed attachment points. This entire construction is unusual today, it is unique is contemporary signs.
The result is a hybrid, old world construction with new world components to match an exiting sign. Have a project like this? Or do I just need new signs? Give Signs for San Diego a call and let us get started!! Signs for San Diego, 760-730-5118
